we're the people your child runs back to hug goodbye.

SIP Abacus Kasavanahalli began in 2017 with one teacher and eleven students in a one-bedroom flat. We are much bigger now, but the promise hasn't moved: help every child grow calmer, more focused, and more sure of themselves. The abacus is just how we get there.

nine years of watching children grow.

We never dreamed of being the biggest abacus centre in the city, just the one that felt most like home. What follows is really just a quiet collection of moments, one child and one small step at a time.

2 sept 2017

eleven students, one teacher, one dark lane.

We opened on the 2nd of September, 2017, in a one-bedroom flat on the ground floor of a house, down a lane so dark you'd nearly walk past it. One teacher, eleven children, and a single whiteboard. Their parents simply took a chance on us.

late 2017

a year of firsts, all at once.

Within months we'd lived a lifetime of firsts, our first state-level competition in October, our first parent orientation in November, and our first Children's Day celebration to close out December. The room was tiny. The year was anything but.

sept 2018

our first winners come home.

A year in, our students walked into the state-level competition and walked back out with wins of their own. The trophies were small. The grins were enormous.

2 oct 2018

out of the lane, onto the main road.

On the 2nd of October, exactly a year after we began, we moved into a proper commercial building on the main road. For the first time, we had a place families could actually find.

a proud momentnov 2018

our name on the national stage.

We stepped into our first national competition, and a single student from our centre came away a winner, our very first win on the national stage. We framed the certificate, and the moment along with it.

26 jan 2019

our very first annual day.

On Republic Day, fifty-odd parents and children packed happily into one hall for our first annual day. It felt enormous at the time, and honestly, it still does.

a proud moment2019

champions at home, winners abroad.

In November, a single student from our centre came away a winner from an international competition, our very first win on the world stage. A month later, we were named the number one SIP centre in all of Karnataka for the very first time. Quite a way to end the year.

early 2020

the idea for a practice home.

We kept running into the same problem, a wonderful Saturday class would fade by the next. Worksheets alone weren't keeping practice alive at home, so we started sketching out a practice website of our own.

march 2020

india's first online SIP abacus classes.

When the pandemic shut the doors overnight, we couldn't wait for a website to be ready. Within weeks we built an Excel-based practice tool and moved every batch online, becoming the first SIP Abacus centre in the country to do so. Behind the scenes, the real website kept taking shape.

late 2020

our practice world goes live.

November brought the first version of our practice website. That December, we held our first online annual day, streamed straight into every living room on YouTube Live.

a proud momentfeb 2021

our first national champion.

At the online national abacus competition, one of our students finished first in the whole country. Our first national champion, earned from a bedroom desk.

jun 2021

practice that plays back.

We launched version two of the website, this time with games, streaks, and rewards built in, so children came back to practise because they wanted to, not because we asked.

dec 2021

a bigger show, still on screen.

Our second online annual day arrived with sturdier tech and a full cultural programme on YouTube Live, watched all the way up to the director of SIP himself.

feb 2022

the annual day we're known for.

We returned to a real venue and went big, a grand annual day with 450-plus attendees, including families who travelled in from other states. This is the celebration people now picture when they think of us.

sept 2022

five years, one big table.

We turned five and celebrated at The Oterra, students, parents, teachers, and SIP's leadership all under one roof. That same year brought our first Jewel of Karnataka title in July and our first Titan Center award in November. The centre from the dark lane had become hard to overlook.

nov 2024

a result that stung.

November 2024 was bittersweet. More of our students qualified as national winners than from any other centre in Karnataka, yet fewer of them walked away with a top prize than we'd hoped. It stung, and it showed us exactly where we wanted to get better.

a proud momentjan 2025

back, and better than ever.

By December 2024 we'd climbed into the top three Titan Centers. By January 2025 we were number one in Karnataka by number of awards. The disappointment had done exactly what it needed to.

a proud momentjul 2025

the biggest centre in the world.

We opened our state-of-the-art centre, at the time the largest SIP Abacus centre anywhere on earth. A long way from a one-bedroom flat down a dark lane.

a proud momentdec 2025

third in the world.

November brought a top-three finish internationally. December, second place among all Titan Centers. The children from Kasavanahalli were now measured against the whole world, and holding their own.

today

still the same classroom at heart.

In January 2026 we held on to our number one spot in Karnataka. There are more students now, more teachers, more trophies on the shelf, but class still begins the way it did in 2017, with a warm smile and an easy warm-up round.

These are the faces your child will see every week, in the classroom and on every call. They know the quirks, the wobbles, and exactly when to cheer.

how we teach.

Four beliefs guide everything we do with your child and the abacus. The levels, the medals, and the confidence all grow out of these.

small batches, whole attention.

We keep every batch small, so a teacher never has to choose which child to notice today. There is no back row to hide in here, because we made sure there wasn't one.

practice should feel like play.

A child who is having fun never needs to be reminded to practise. We shape every session, and everything they do at home, around that one truth.

progress is watched, never assumed.

We watch every level and every small wobble, closely and carefully. If a child is struggling on Tuesday, we already know by Wednesday, not months later at the next report card.

confidence first. skill follows.

The abacus helps build quick, calm minds, but what we are really building is brave ones. Focus, discipline, and skill follow on their own once a child believes in themselves.

if a child leaves class smiling, we already know the lesson worked.

why we built our own learning ecosystem.

A little peek into why we built what we built, told the way we'd tell a close friend over a cup of chai.

before

great classes weren't quite enough.

A wonderful class on Saturday kept fading by the next Saturday. Abacus skill needs a few minutes of care every day, and we had no way to be there for it. Worksheets got lost, practice turned into arguments, and parents were left playing homework police without any backup from us.

then

the pandemic asked us to show up differently.

In 2020 we had to move every batch online within weeks. It was frightening at first. Then children started logging in from their bedrooms and the classes felt like classes again. So we stopped treating home practice as an afterthought and started building something better.

today

a practice world of our own.

Now our students practise on a website built just for them, with games, streaks, and rewards doing the reminding. Parents see real progress instead of guessing, and teachers know where each child needs help before the next class begins. It isn't borrowed software. It's our classroom, following your child home through the rest of the week.
